It has been suggested, that I should define what I mean by ‘dolls’ in this ‘Doll Blog’
Fair enough; when I was first starting to work on the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for the SleepySoft.com website, if I googled ‘black baby doll’ I’d also get pages with women’s negligee!
So I looked up the word doll in about a dozen dictionaries; the average definition went something like this : 1. a small figure representing a baby or other human being, esp. for use as a child’s toy.
Now that’s fine, but I also want to blog about Collectible dolls and Art dolls, costing hundreds of dollars – certainly not in the ‘toy’ price range – and what about Sesame Street Dolls, or The Grinch?
So I figure I am going to need a broader definition. So here is my definition of dolls for the purposes of this blog:
1. a small figure representing a baby or other human being, esp. for use as a child’s toy.
2. representations of children, animal or fantasy characters meant for play or collecting; in all sizes, and made from materials including cloth, plastics, wood, clays, found objects, paper etc.
